PLAYLIST: First Third 2017

Confidence Man.

Confidence Man.

So apparently we’re already four months into 2017 and I can’t really think of anything significant (positive) that’s happened, other than the fact that Trump hasn’t killed us all, yet.

So in a bid to spread a few more good vibes, we’ve compiled some of our favourite loud noises to escape the political fuckery at play. ‘First Third’ is a playlist of what we think are some of the best songs to appear so far in 2017.

As always, it’s a mix of old favourites and new discoveries. Bonobo’s Migration is a stand out album so far this year, with ‘Bambro Koyo Ganda’ becoming more and more beautiful with each listen. The playlist includes some great energetic artists from the UK including The Moonlandingz (who will also be going on the ‘Best Album’s of 2017’ list) and HMLTD.

Some other artists that have been on high rotation this year include Atlanta’s Omni (featuring ex-Deerhunter guitarist Frankie Broyles), Amsterdam’s Pip Blom and Brighton's Girl Ray.

Seeing as this is being written from old Sydney town, it's worth noting some of the Aussie artists on the list, including Confidence ManOrionSaatsuma & Jarrow, plus various others that you're probably already aware of (POND, Methyl Ethel, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever etc).

The playlist ends with a rather hypnotic krautelektro track, 'Minisong' from Germany's Fred Und Luna.

Dammit, literally all of it is blooming wonderful. Listen below:
