TOP-DRAWER GIGS: THIS WEEK'S TOP PICKS

RACKETT.

RACKETT.

Upon creating a fresh Sydney Gig Guide it has dawned on me that Sydney is in fact, very open. Sure, it’s not open late enough and that’s something that certainly needs to be addressed. However, there are gigs on every single night in Sydney, and it’s up to us to keep things alive by attending.

Here's a few great performances happening this week that are sure to blow you away. Check out the below and get along to support some incredible local talent:

LAS VAGUENESS + SUNSCREEN - Golden Age Cinema - FREE (Thursday, 11th May)

Sydney pop outfit Las Vagueness play pretty, upbeat tunes filled with sadness and hope. Inspired by the likes of Frankie Cosmos and Christopher Owens, it’s that simple (yet endearing) storytelling ability that really draws you in. Support comes from the equally charming Sunscreen, this is sure to be a great night of jangly pop-rock for all.

RACKETT - Hotel Steyne Manly - FREE (Friday, 12th May)

If you’re up for some high energy rock delivered by some kick-ass women, then Friday night at the Steyne is where you should be. Much like their name suggests, Rackett's loud, experimental approach is the main attraction - you don’t want to miss these ladies live.

MIC MILLS + ENDGRAIN - Ricardo's Marrickville - $10 (Friday, 12th May)

If you find yourself city dwelling and up for more of a dance than a mosh, hit up Ricardo's in Marrickville. It's set to be a night of deep grooves and experimental beats with Adelaide's Mic Mills and Sydney newcomer Endgrain.

VACATIONS + MORNING TV - Botany View Hotel - FREE (Saturday, 13th May)

Newcastle’s Vacations have the slacker rock thing down pat. Think Mac Demarco but slightly more well behaved.  Support act Morning TV will continue the theme of the night - glittering guitar and dreamy vocals.
