PREMIERE: Sydney’s Bland Share Dreamy Video For New Single ‘The Great Divide’
Last month, Sydney four-piece Bland released their latest single ‘The Great Divide’. It’s a huge, well-layered track that’s filled with both depth and emotion. It’s this kind of melodic Australian punk that really has the power to make you sit up and listen. Today we’re delighted to premiering the equally impressive accompanying video.
Directed by Olivia Parsonson, whom the band have previously collaborated with – the clip reveals a gentle aesthetic and a warm sense of escapism. The song itself is a depiction of the emotions that are experienced when faced with loss, whereas the video shows a different perspective. Lead singer Ollie Ellis said of the video, “Shots of the land from the passenger seat of a car are meant to represent the desire to run from these feelings… the presence of the band throughout the clip is a physicalisation of frustration towards the internal conflict.”
This is an emotionally driven track which makes it all the easier to connect with, but don’t expect to press play and not move your body. The upbeat, jangly guitars are particularly infectious and there’s some sleek dance moves on display too. Wind down the windows and dial up the volume because Bland’s big new sound is here to stay.
Bland will be celebrating the release of their brilliant new single and video this Friday 14th December in Sydney at the Union Hotel. Support comes from Ultracrush and Sleepy and it’s free, you know what to do.
Until then, get lost in the beauty below.
