SUNDAY CHILLER: Why Bonnie
Each Sunday we'll be shining light on emerging artists who know how to keep things chill. No more scrounging around for something lovely to listen to on a Sunday - we've got you covered.
Yet again the desired Sunday sounds have been found in Austin, Texas. This time it's the divine sonic stories from bedroom pop-rockers, Why Bonnie. They recently released their In Water EP, a collection of heartfelt songs that explore the complexities of life and it's various challenges.
While the mood remains somewhat heavy throughout, there's a lightness and hope that shines through the beautifully layered tracks. Much of this comes from lead-singer Blair Howerton's stunning, sweet vocals. There's a breezy vibe that balances out the deep awareness and warming authenticity of the entire EP.
From the opening track 'Made Of Paper' you can't help but liken the sounds to those of Alvvays, it's that same infectious and fantastically fuzzy pop. Make no mistakes though, Why Bonnie bring with them their own unique charm, a charm that we have firmly on repeat.
In Water is out now via the lovely people at Sports Day Records. Give it a spin below and begin the Why Bonnie addiction.
Key tracks: Made Of Paper and Practice.
