Things To Do For Record Store Day This Saturday

 THE GOODS.

THE GOODS.

This Saturday, record stores all over the globe will be celebrating their beloved wax obsessions. You can check out what special releases will be on offer here.

We've put together a little list of some of the best stuff happening in and around Sydney:

RED EYE RECORDS (CBD)

If you’re after an intimate in-store then you’d best get down early as the raucous duo Polish Club will be taking to the floor at 2:30pm.

THE RECORD STORE (Surry Hills)

The Record Store has just announced that The Goods will be hitting the decks/stage at 1pm to celebrate the release of their brand spankin’ new EP ‘Make Your Move’. Big recommend.

CAFE LOUNGE (Surry Hills)

Once you’re done with The Goods and have a solid selection of RSD releases under your arm, you can then stroll across the road to Cafe Lounge. Last year it was a massive vibe, and this year some local legends will be selling their vinyl, including Mark Dynamix, Kali, Daniel Lupica, Steven Sullivan, Mike Who, Low Flung, Jackson, Kato, Sydney Pony Club and more.

SYDNEY HI-FI (Mona Vale)

If you’re beaches way then make sure you stop in at Mona for a hit of RSD love. Kicking off at 9am there’ll be sets from  DJ Gold Class and Jess Stillone. There’s major prizes up for grabs, sausage sizzles to dig into and they’ll also be donating profits to the Learning Links charity.

FRANKS WILD YEARS (Thirroul)

Franks arguably have the best live line up this year with sets from The Jim Mitchells, Spike Vincent, Stefan Blair (Good Morning), Tropical Strength, Luke Spook, plus DJs and a raffle. Store opens at 10am and the musical fun kicks off at 2pm.

URGE RECORDS (Thirroul)

Also striking up a rather competitive line up is Urge with performances from Solid Effort, GeeTee, Satanic Togas, Rort Menace, Concrete Lawn, Scab Baby and Pesci. Digging starts at 11am, party and bands kick off at 6pm.

BEATDISC RECORDS (Parramatta)

Pizza, mark downs, giveaways and a party - the dream.

SOMETHING ELSE RECORDS (Newtown)

The house and techno specialists will be celebrating with 20% off all new vinyl on both Saturday and Sunday.

567 KING (Newtown)

Another in-store in the Inner West, this time from Apollo Brown. Plus there’ll be a BBQ (can’t go wrong) and appearances from P.Smurf, DJ Cost, Otherside, Mumbles, DJ Maniak and No Fuss. Huge after party to follow at Kings Cross Hotel.

RADIO FREE ALICE (Darlinghurst)

Opening their doors a little earlier at 10am, there’ll be 20% off all vinyl on the day (except RSD titles). There’s also going to be some Audio-Technica mercy up for grabs too.

MOJO RECORD BAR (CBD)

Melbourne’s Wild Meadows will be playing a live show at 6:30pm. Before that you can stock up on discounted vinyl and happy hour beers.

Also be sure to get to some of our other favourite record stores, Sandy’s Music in Dee Why, Repressed Records and Egg Records in Newtown - there’ll be stuff happening there too.

Look, there’s plenty more happening, too much to write in fact. Moral of the story, get up and at ‘em early this Saturday, support your local record store and add some special release records to your collection.
