There’s just something about long songs. The way they cling to your brain and don’t let go. Why should songs be less than five minutes? If they’re good, they should be long enough for you to zone out to and then regain consciousness before the end - the full experience.

‘Eyes Have It’ by Chicago-based AXIS: SOVA is the perfect example of this; the whole shebang. At eight minutes and six seconds long, it’s simplicity becomes all the more meaningful as it plays out. With a steady beat throughout, the grimy guitar and fuzzed out vocals help him master the art of repetition.

What I’m trying to say is, it’s a little bit special.

Axis: Sova opens for Ty Segall next month in New York.
